Montsegur Castle
Montségur is one of the eight most famous Cathar castles. Perched atop a pog (a sugarloaf-shaped mountain, also called a “puy” or “puech”), it rises to an altitude of 1,207 meters. It overlooks the village of Montségur, as well as the entire Pays d’Olmes region.
Inside the fortifications, your guide will tell you the history of the castle and the legends surrounding Montségur.
In addition to the tour, a visit to the museum dedicated to the history of Montségur is highly recommended. There you will find the famous artifacts collected on the mountain, which have provided valuable insights into daily life there.
